Who knew digital art could get so messy?
Working with Wires
Recently a focus of mine has really been on upping my skills with topology. I've started by sculpting a model (digitally), not unlike using clay in real life, then taking that and working out how it would best be retopologised, or made into a form that functions more effectively with the computer. The image on the left shows one of my more recent attempts. It was an enjoyable project to work on so far, and this is merely the first step!
Teetering over Textures
The project shown to the left, a version of the Needler gun from Halo was one of my more recent projects, and my first toe dip into Substance Painter. It was a fantastic project to start with, including many varied and interesting instances of geometry and textures. It allowed me to really experiment with different materials, as well as normal maps.
Green, but not Gatsby!
This was a project that I looked forward to as soon as I saw it on the curriculum for year one. My head, upon reading "Modelling a Haunted House" was instantly careening, thinking of different ideas and visuals. I'm happy to report that a good many of those initial ideas did come to fruition, I feel the house has intrigue and character, and the stylized look greatly appeals.
