James Palmer

Third Year 3D Environment Developer

I stride to create and model, building new digital universes!

I am James Palmer, the StarBluePhoenix! I am a third year student with an interest in creating 3D worlds and virtual realities. I specialise in Blender as well as having experience with Unity, Quixel Mixer, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro

The Jaw Hanger - VR Horror Game

The Jaw Hanger - VR Horror Game
This is my most recent project. The Jaw Hanger is a prototype horror video game set in an underground sewer / storage depot. The main aim of the game is to escape whilst avoiding multiple 'Jaw Hanger' zombies. What makes the game more scary is.... its set in VR! The assets for the game were made in the 3D modelling program Blender and the textures for the Jaw Hanger were made in Quixel Mixer. Unity is used at the game engine.

The VR Auditorium

The VR Auditorium
The VR Auditorium is the first project that I created with true six degree of movement in VR. It is a prototype for presenting lecturers as well as history / science topics in Virtual Reality. It was also the first project I got to work on where I was able to create an organic object, namely the Dragon you can see in the scene above. The Auditorium and Dragon were modelled in Blender and the program would run in Unity.

Virtual Winchester - The Deanery

Virtual Winchester - The Deanery
The Deanery is the first realistic building that I modelled as a 3D student in Blender. The building itself is called the Deanery and located next to the Cathedral. Using a combination of Google maps, historical floor plans and my own photography I was able to recreate the exterior of the building for my second year group client project during the first semester.

Meet Our Students

Our talented students have a wide variety of skill sets which they use to create some amazing pieces of work. This wide diversity allows for students to work in a work-place like environment so that they can develop their team working skills.
