Tomos Jackson

Third Year 3D Environment Developer

History and Fantasy are my passions!

I've been gradually narrowing my interests down to creating buildings and environments and, more recently, sculpting characters. I hope to use these skills to both visualize the fantasy world on which I am writing and historical events and characters, less well know, from the past.

St Mary's: Anglo Saxon Malmesbury

St Mary's: Anglo Saxon Malmesbury
The Church of St Mary's is one of three churches that made up the complex of buildings that would later develop into Malmesbury abbey. Again the exact appearance of the church is unknown and so research into how the Anglo Saxons build their churches. Signature Saxon signs are narrow and tall structure, square towers with pilaster strips running up the side of the tower and quoin corners with "long and short" work at the edges of the walls.

Anglo Saxon Malmesbury Mint

Anglo Saxon Malmesbury Mint
The Anglo Saxon Malmesbury mint was made during the second semester of the second year, as part of the Explore Malmesbury project to recreate the town of Malmesbury as would have been seen during that era. The exact layout of the real mint was unknown and so it fell to me to research what it might have looked like. It seems that the mint would normally simply be an extension of the owners home, with a hammer, anvil, "coin dye" and silver disks.

Sculpting Grommash Hellscream from World of Warcraft

Sculpting Grommash Hellscream from World of Warcraft
My first time sculpting characters I'm doing this with the aid of a Udemy course by Corazon Bryant, which I have not yet completed. However, this is where I am at, in the moment which I post this image. A greater degree of finality should be on my website portfolio at the time of your reading this, so please check it out. From here I would like to start creating historical sculpts like Aethelstan, William the Conqueror as well as characters from the fantasy universe I am currently writing.
